The Springboks
Rugby was a stressful failure today. The South African side (the Springboks) were playing the New Zealand All Blacks in a rather important test (or so I was told, I have not seen a complete rugby came since I last left South Africa). With 5 minutes to go in the match, it seemed as if South Africa might possibly hold on for a victory. Alas, New Zealand found a hole in the SA defence and scored a try, claiming victory. The entire party seemed rather bummed at this point, and I was surprised that our breakfast managed to maintain a cheery atmosphere!!
Lynda, the wife of Grenville, a former-Rotarian from the Sandton club that hosted me on my exchange in 1997, put out a wonderful spread. Though Rich and I nipped out briefly to deal with the car, we were back in time for much food and even more wine. Candy, Brandon and Jordan, Lynda and Grenville's children, were all present. It was a relaxing afternoon spent sipping wine and chatting.

Hi honey! Just sending you this e-mail has me teary eyed at my computer because I miss you so much. I haven't been to the gym yet and I'm not sure I'm ready to go to the place where we spent so much time together. It's not going to be the same working out without you! I've just went through and read all of your postings and I'm very glad to hear that your settling in and enjoying your time in South Africa so far. I'm sure it's going to be such a wonderful experience for you. It was great having you stay with me. Spending that extra bit of time with you before you left was wonderful. Thank you so much for the card..it was another tearful moment for me. Anyways no more tears as I know we will see each other again before too long.
I just arrived back from Las Vegas yesterday morning and I was honestly happy to come home. I'm usually very sad after a holiday but I was ready for it to end. I did have a fabulous time but 7 days in such an indulgent atmostphere was a bit too much. I'm paying the price today at work! The team did really well in pool. We came 33rd out of 610 teams and won $2,000 to be split among 8 players which was amazing! We placed higher than any other Canadian team ever has. It was a really great experience and we met alot of very nice people. I walked the Strip and went into the various hotels like the Venetian, Bellagio and Ceasars Palace. They were all spectacular. The shopping was AMAZING! I bought too much and had to buy another bag to bring back my shopping! haha. Anyways it was great being picked up at the airport by Mom and Barry. They are both doing well and Mason is all settled in at York and enjoying Frosh week. I'm excited to have him here. Anyways love I will write again soon. Take care and I miss you so much!
Love, Kris
No tears Booboo. I'll be home soon! In the mean time, we both need to get our asses into the gym!! Patty is feeding me so well, I'm going to burst out of my pants if I don't start working out again!
I'm glad your team did so well in Vegas. Congrats!
I love you lots too! Keep the emails coming; I love hearing all of your news.
All I can say is "WE WON!!".. :)
That's great that your eating well. I was afraid of gaining weight in Vegas but I actually didn't eat that much but when I did eat I ate shit food which wasn't good. Now I am back to eating healthy and I feel good. Just keep hittin the gym girl and you'll be ok. If you gain a few it isn't the end of the world! You know now that pounds can always be shed!
I'm hittin the gym this weekend cause I really need to get back into the swing of things!
Love, Kris
Derrilynn, :P -- The whole of South Africa is hoping that Australia will beat New Zealand this weekend, which will put SA in #1. However, we admittedly realize that hell could freeze over before that happens!
Krista, yes, getting to a gym is completely necessary. Patty packs me chocolate EVERY DAY! And we all know that I have never been able to say no to chocolate! I'm going to look at gyms this weekend.
